Volunteers Help Us Help Others
Volunteers are an integral part of the healthcare team at Seton Medical Center and Seton Medical Center Coastside. More than 250 adult and teen volunteers provide caring and invaluable services in departments throughout our medical centers. At Seton Medical Center and Seton Medical Center Coastside, we believe in providing a warm, caring, and spiritual environment that supports the whole person; body, mind, and spirit.
Our volunteers help our hospital carry out the mission of our sponsors, the Daughters of Charity in serving the underprivileged, sick, and the poor. Throughout the year our volunteers provide invaluable service. Along with our entire team of physicians, nurses, and staff, the care and compassion shown by our volunteers on a daily basis is vital to the overall experience and healing process for our patients and their families.
Many Options for Volunteering
The variety of the tasks that our outstanding volunteers perform daily are endless. Volunteering brings out the best in people. Volunteers can be found at the information desk, greeting and directing visitors to their destinations and escorting them when necessary. A volunteer in the cardiac care waiting room listens to a worried family member who is far from home. Volunteers accompany our visitors to the cafeteria for a cup of coffee and have been known to write a letter for a patient who is no longer able to do it him or herself. They also deliver mail and magazines to patients and assist in clerical assignments. Volunteers generously give the gift of their time and caring because they believe Caring Is Powerful Medicine.
Examples of Volunteer Assignments:
