In keeping with the holistic tradition of care practiced by Seton Medical Center, Seton Coastside, and the Daughters of Charity Health System, the Spiritual Care Services Department makes every effort to address the spiritual needs of all patients admitted to Seton and Seton Coastside, according to their religious preferences, values, and cultural beliefs.
Chaplains seek to establish contact with patients within twenty-four hours of their admission to the hospital, and by responding to the spiritual, emotional, and ethical concerns expressed by patients and their loved ones, we affirm and uphold the Daughters' Vincentian Values of respect and compassionate service. Our primary mission is to help patients and their loved ones to connect (and reconnect) with their source of hope in the midst of their health care crises, thereby drawing upon their faith traditions to strengthen and sustain them during their hospitalization experience.
